We are back to meeting in person!
Rotarian of the Year - Mark Berning and his family with our wonderful
zoom conquering President, Kerry Witkin!
Rotarians are "People of Action!" But "What is a Rotarian?" and what does "People of Action" mean?

That depends. Each person who joins Rotary has a personal motivation to serve others and return something to their community. A true Rotarian identifies needs in society (locally, nationally, or worldwide) and moves purposefully toward a solution… a "Person of Action." Being part of Rotary is a humanitarian labor of love with healthy doses of fun, laughter, and true compassion mixed in. This combination makes for a recipe worthy of a five-star Michelin chef!

The Encinitas Rotary Club, chartered in 1939, truly excels in combining the selfless elements of community service with a true sense of family. It is incredible what can be accomplished when talent and competence meets desire and enthusiasm. In the past, our club has assisted in building homes for the needy in Mexico, partnered with a sister Rotary Club in Katmandu, Nepal to upgrade 10 rural medical outposts, established schools in underserved areas of Vietnam, staffed and provided student scholarships to North San Diego County youth leadership programs RYLA and LEAD, and organized the 16th edition of one of the premier Wine and Food festivals in all of SD County benefiting over 17 charitable organizations (over $1.4 million total donation distributions)…the list continues on and on.

The Encinitas Rotary Club has been serving our local community and our world for over 80 years. Through the hard work and dedication, we will still be doing the same 80 years from now.

Please consider becoming a part of this amazing organization.
Four and a half years ago, I joined the Rotary Club of Encinitas.  While there are so many associations that people could choose to be a part of, I specifically decided on rotary because of their commitment to service.   This journey started for me, with learning about Rotary’s Motto THE 4-WAY TEST which goes like this.
"Of the things we think, say or do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
My passion and purpose have always been community driven, and it’s been incredible to experience membership in this club. This introduction into Rotary is what led me to continue to attend week after week- and build friendships and community on the foundation of service.
Our club here in Encinitas was chartered in 1939, in my opinion truly excels in combining the selfless elements of community service with a true sense of family.
Encinitas Rotary Club gives back to the community while providing services to make the world a better place for all.
One of the many lessons I’ve learned is that we can make a difference when we pool resources and work together.
Helping our community is at the core of every member.
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise through 4 avenues of service.
1.    Club Service - activities for Rotarians within the club
2.    Vocational Service - opportunity to represent the dignity and utility of one's vocation to the other members of the club
3.    Community Service - activities Rotarians undertake to improve the quality of life in their community which involves assistance to youth, the aged, handicapped and others who look to Rotary as a source of hope for a better life.
4.    International Service - programs and activities which Rotarians undertake to meet humanitarian needs of people in many lands
I never thought I would step into a leadership role with the organization, and it’s been incredibly fulfilling.  Our Rotary meetings are an intersection of service, community, and business – the meetings are noisy, energetic and a ton of fun! Each week feels like a reunion, and we have become a great big family. After all we are proclaimed to be the “Animal House of Rotary”.
I personally invite you to be our guest one Wednesday at noon so you can join the fun, camaraderie, and passion to serve above self.
Yours in service,
Sherry Yardley

Encinitas, CA - The annual Encinitas Rotary Wine & Food Festival has become a popular mainstay event in the community. In its 13th year, the Festival supports charities, whose local or international focus is on children or the community. This year the Festival was held for the first time on the second hole of the Encinitas Ranch Golf Course.  Over $104,000 was raised for the 18 participating charities. Recipients were awarded their checks at a special Encinitas Rotary Club presentation on August 17, 2016. During the ceremony, each beneficiary gave a short description of the work they do and how the funds will be used.
